Before we run any course, we spend time getting to know you so that we can put together a unique solution that 100% fits your needs. These bespoke solutions are quality assured through accreditation offered by international Awarding Bodies recognised by Ofqual.
We consider issues such as the role of your staff, the environment where they operate and the associated local and regional threats. We factor in your organisation’s obligations under national and international law as well as your budget. This analysis is followed by an inclusive training design phase that aims to close any identified training gap in such a way that fits with your preferred learning style and locations as well as well as your budget. And we review all of these factors before every training iteration we deliver to you.
Our highly qualified and experienced instructors and assessors are all skilled communicators and recognized experts in their field. They all have recent operational experience, often gained living and working in hostile environments. This all makes sure your training is relevant and engaging.
Our training covers five key areas:
Hostile Environment Awareness
Our Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) courses are a threat focused, principle-based, suite of online and residential courses that combine best practice theory with highly realistic scenario-based practical training modules.
Our clients are currently using the principles mastered in these leading-edge training packages to keep their staff who live and work in high-risk environments safe.
We're proud that our training is used by world travellers, first responders, as well as some of the largest security-focused corporations, NGOs and militaries to keep them safe in the World's conflict zones and contested regions.
We routinely deliver our training in the UK, at client base locations and on-site wherever our clients work; our HEAT training is widely recognised as genuinely effective pre-deployment preparation that significantly contributes to our clients' safety.
Blaythorne provides safe, high quality and affordable HEAT courses specifically designed to assist client organisations to meet their Duty of Care responsibilities.
Our training is an integral part of our own risk management program; as we believe that it's crucial that the colleagues we send into harm’s way have the security awareness training they need and deserve.
For our own staff deployed to medium- or high-risk countries, this training is mandatory within the first six months of their assignment.
Our medical training will equip you to provide basic life support and trauma care. It will give you the specialist skills you need to work safely and effectively in even the most challenging and environments and remote locations.
As well as trauma care, with our flexible medical courses you can learn, for example:
- How to manage the scene during a medical emergency
- How to manage communicable diseases and mass infection
- How to manage cultural risk in relation to medical situations
- How to manage stress
If you operate in complex or hazardous environments you must be proactive and manage any risk you know your face. You need to understand the nature of the risk and adapt your thinking and behavior to mitigate its effects. Failure to do so will expose you and your team to unnecessary danger.
Our specialist courses are designed to help you work with confidence. They will enhance your performance, improve your safety and help to make you a more professional asset to your team.
Counter-Explosive Threat (C-ExpT)
Our consultancy and training services will help you to recognise and deal with threats and build up a resilient capability in their management and mitigation.
Blaythorne consultancy and training aims to build customer awareness and understanding of the specific threats or problems faced and provide advice and training that provides resilience, skills and knowledge at all levels of responsibility.
Health & Safety
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) states that, “Duty holders must: deal immediately with serious risk; comply with the law; and will be held to account if they fail in their responsibilities.”
Health and Safety law applies to any organisation that employs at least one person. However, it will differ depending on the nature of your work and the number of people you employ.
We can advise you on the HSE training you need. Then we can plan and deliver the precise course content that will ensure you and your staff are prepared and protected
“The training felt so tailored to our individual needs which made it a great way to learn. I felt that people were really there beside us to help us – really taking seriously all the challenges and worries we had. The practical elements were really well organised. The setting was also magnificent. It was a really good experience.”

Our training facilities
Our main training centre is located in Kent. This facility provides access to diverse environments across thousands of acres of land where we can stage practical exercises and challenging real-life scenarios.
We also have use of a good mix of buildings for classroom-based tuition. We provide accommodation for our residential courses through local hotels, guesthouses and bunkhouses – or under canvas if needed for the particular course.
One of the key advantages of our site is it’s privacy. This allows you to focus on your training away from intrusion.
If you prefer, we can deliver some of our training away from our site. We frequently deliver our courses throughout the UK or abroad, wherever best suits our clients’ needs.
